Dark Knight

by M. J. Joachim
“It must be noon by now,” she sighed, while staring blankly out the window. Rain and hail exemplified her mood. All her life, she had waited for her knight in shining armor, dreamed of white picket fences, flowers in the yard and children – lots and lots of children.

She would have them all and then some. Dreams of innocence captured in a life of reality – a fantasy come true. Her knight was tall, dark and extremely intelligent, a man whose only desire was to please her, giving her everything her heart desired, without ever giving her a reason to doubt his faithfulness to her.

Slowly, the doorknob to her bedroom creaked, announcing her beloved’s return. Gently he placed their newest little one into her arms, as he wiped a tear off her cheek. “You don’t like him,” he asked. “You wanted a girl this time instead, or maybe twins?”

Holding back the fear, she clutched the new baby to her chest. “He’s perfect, Honey. I promise,” she replied aloud. Then, ever so softly, she whispered in her new baby’s ear, “I’ll bet your real mama feels exactly the same way.”

That’s all for now, good people! Thank you for visiting FlashTymeJ
